The Demolition Part II

We had survived the dust, old insulation, and heat with very few scrapes and bruises (more to come though). The upstairs two rooms were down to the bare studs. My uncle Tim said that since we knew we needed to expand the upstairs we might as well do it now rather than re-drywall now and have to redo it all again in five years. Sounded wise to us.
Of course rain was in the short term forecast so the "girls" were sent to buy the largest tarp the county had to offer. When we left the house had a quaint little roof over a story and half house. When we got back with basically a circus big top sized tarp...it didn't...

This is an image heavy post because the transformation is simply unbelievable without seeing the process!
This is what we left.

And this is what happened while we were gone tarp hunting.

Good bye end wall.

Timber!

Successful removal of an unwanted wall.

This is Brian, my uncle's next door neighbor. We literally had help from everyone!  And they worked in the heat, in the dust and until the sun went down!

The cleanup

This was the view from "upstairs" down into the house.

Two men on a little ladder.
The kids got a nighttime view of what would slowly become their bedrooms.

This is one of my favorite pictures from the entire 5 year project. This is my Uncle Tim, the boss of the job. He had the vision, drew the plans, kept the promises, and made our dreams come true. I like to think that sly smile on his face is telling us we had no idea what we had just started! :)
